How to choose lighting for a dining room

Well-chosen light fittings in a dining room allow you to change the intensity and illumination angle as well as changing the room’s atmosphere (for everyday use to softened festive lighting).

The aim of selecting appropriate dining room lighting is similar to selecting lighting in other rooms. Well-chosen lighting should not only improve and beautify the interior, but should also be practical with regard to the specific activities that take place in the interior.
So both beauty and also practicality play an important role for the placement of individual light sources in a dining room.

The dining room is often part of or close to the kitchen
Hygienic spaces are often fitted with glossy, mostly washable surfaces, so we should also think of the colour brightness and reflectivity of these surfaces when choosing suitable lighting.
Lighter, more reflective colours enhance light intensity and perceived lighting levels, while darker, less reflective surfaces reduce light. Therefore, light sources in the dining room and their intensity should be chosen with respect to the colour and reflectivity of interior surfaces as they have a significant effect on the overall impression and distribution of room’s colours.
Dining room lighting doesn’t always have to come from the above. For dining room light fittings, it’s worthwhile choosing fittings that provide light from different angles. Light fittings that allow you to change the light intensity, so you can change the room's atmosphere - from everyday lighting to softened festive darkness. The degree of illumination is a subjective notion and each one of us perceives it in our own way.
